CHAIRGUN ELITE: TUTORIAL AND REVIEW

Our smartphones are never far from our side, in our daily lives and for our leisure time,

Long-distance shooting is no exception to this phenomenon. It must be said that the computing power of our smartphones is a real advantage for calculating a precise shooting solution instantly! No more paper shooting charts!

But today with the banning of STRELOK PRO on application platforms due to its Russian origin, which application should you use if you did not have the chance to download STRELOK before the ban?

Source: UFA WEAPONS

For a few weeks now, a name has been circulating on social networks, “CHAIGUN ELITE”. So I started an investigation to evaluate this application!

First we need to know what our expectations are from a ballistic calculator?

Personally, I am looking for a ballistic calculator that has these functions:

  • Easy to use
  • Announced fixes close to perfection
  • Possibility to have a simple display without frills.
  • Uses G7 ballistic coefficients
  • Possibility to have the exit velocity of the projectile depending on the Temperature
  • Possibility of adapting the units to your habits (example Hpa pressure, grain projectile weight, etc.)
  • Having a large library of projectiles is a real advantage.
  • Have the ability to save all targets on a firing point to avoid re-entering distances each time a target changes.
  • Affordable (One-time payment, or free, no subscription!)

Now that we have set our expectations on a ballistic calculator, let's dissect CHAIRGUN ELITE:

To begin with, strelok users will not be lost... It looks like a copy of strelok pro... the display is a little different in some tabs but the resemblance is uncanny (an inspiration may be a little too strong to be a coincidence...)

Ease of use: 10/10

In two words: Super simple!

  • A tab to calculate a shooting solution, with the necessary complement of weather data: shooting angle, GPS position, etc.
  • A tab for the weapon (scope + turret units + scope height,...)
  • A tab for ammunition (ballistic coefficient, size, weight, exit speeds, etc.)

Correction announced close to perfection

I compared the ballistic data given by CHAIRGUN ELITE to those of STRELOK PRO which I have been using for years with perfect satisfaction!

The result: Same correction to the nearest click up to 1600 meters on 3 weapon ammunition combos

This should work fine!

Possibility of having a simple and clear display (8/10)

In less than 10 minutes I knew all the submenus, I had adjusted the display to match my needs, No more having information that is useless: I am a Mil shooter, having the display in MOA each time wastes my time and brings me nothing, so I am able here to keep only what interests me.

Likewise, I don't find the click information useful... Multiplying by 10 is within everyone's reach (6.8 mil -> 68 clicks)

Units adapted to your habits

set the units of measurement to the preferred units (grain / m/s / Hpa / …). I just find the display of the rise and drift results too small compared to the rest of the page

Uses G7 ballistic coefficients: YES!

And even much more!

I also discovered ballistic coefficients that I did not know with this application (GS, GI, etc.)

Offering the RA4 coefficient is a real plus for long-distance shooters with the 22 LR

Possibility to have the exit velocity of the projectile depending on the Temperature

Check! Another function fulfilled by this calculator! with a screen that looks like it came straight from STRELOK PRO

Possibility to adapt the units to your habits :

Once again a big yes! Each unit is selectable in metric or imperial! A real plus for those used to the metric / imperial mix (m / s with grains etc ...)

Having a large library of projectiles is a real advantage:

Here again, there are no less than 850 projectiles offered in the Chairgun Elite library! However, to use them, you will have to take out your wallet, the use of projectile data is only available for people paying a subscription (€10.99 / year)

Have the ability to save all targets on a firing point to avoid re-entering distances each time a target changes.

This is the big lack of this application, it is not possible to create a shooting range and have a shooting solution for each target. Here you will be forced to type the distance of your target each time. Not very practical!

Affordable ?

The basic, free version meets the needs of 90% of users

The paid version is of no use to me:

  • Ballistic data for the projectiles we fire can be easily found on the web.
  • The basic version already uses gyroscopic drift & Coriolis! (no need to buy the paid version for..)

My conclusions:

A slightly less good strelok pro! But perfectly suited to the needs of conventional long-distance shooters :)
